| The XAMAN-HA AVIARY It's a place for the exhibition and reproduction of the beautiful and endangered birds of southeastern México. Aktun Chen
Located 107 km from Cancun, along the Mayan Riviera, just 16 km before the
Mayan Ruins of Tulum and 4 km past Akumal, you find "Aktun Chen", which in
mayan means "cave with an underground river inside". The park has an area of
400 Has (988 acres) of unexplored Rainforest in which the only thing that has
been exploited is the gum of a local tree called "chicozapote".
You are able to see some of the local wildlife such as the white tail deer, the
spider monkey, the badger, the wild boar, the wild turkey, the iguanas and some
local wild birds.
Refresh yourself and enjoy a magical experience snorkelling in a 5 million years
old underground crystal clear cenote, all of this without scuba tank but enjoying
incredible underwater sights just as divers do.
One of the park activities is a spectacular cave of more than 5 million years old
with a great variety of stalactites, stalagmites and columns.
This cave is more than 640 yards long, has magnificent vaults, discreet
illumination and fixed ways for a comfortable walk, without risking the natural
state of the grotto, inside the cave you will also be able to appreciate a beautiful
crystal clear water cenote of 12 mts depth.
During this route you will have a specialized guide who will explain you how
caverns are formed, as well as the use and relation that Mayan civilization had
with caves.
Come and live a unique view of the tropical jungle from above, enjoy the sounds
of an aerial experience flying throughout one km. in our incredible 10 canopy
lines and 2 suspended bridges.

Kantun Chi is an easy drive down Federal Highway 307, just 90 km (56 miles) south of Cancun, 22 km (14 miles)
from Playa del Carmen, and around 2 km (1 mile) south of Puerto Aventuras.
The main entrance is 200 meters south of the Barcelo Maya Hotel.
The main entrance to the park is adorned with a small pyramid and our name, “Kantun Chi.”
From Cancun, you can catch one in front of the bus station.
From Playa del Carmen you can board a Mayab bus at the station on Quinta Avenida and Avenida Juarez. The Playa
Express stops at Calle 8 and Avenida 15.
There are also vans from Playa del Carmen to Tulum that can drop you at Kantun Chi. You can catch one on Calle 2
between Avenidas 15 and 20, on the other side of the Post Office

To get to the tour, drive or take a taxi south on Highway 307, the main road between
Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum.
